Requirements for Journey 24-7
2003 - 2004

Faith's Foundations: 

• A brief Bible study on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Attend youth group 3 consecutive times.

• Memorize 13 verses to strengthen personal understanding of the gospel and for use in sharing it with others.

• Verses: 1 Tim. 4:12; 2 Tim. 2:2; Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Eph. 2:8-9; Eph. 1:7; Titus 3:5a; Rom. 3:20; Rom. 4:5; Acts 16:31; Psa. 107:29-30; Psa. 73:24; 2 Cor. 5:1.

• There is a different study each year.

Main Study: 

• 12 lessons, including a verse to memorize and a review page to complete.  Books are in NIV.

• Each new verse is quoted with 5 other most recent verses.

• Verses: Rom. 1:16-17; 3:10-12; 3:25-26; 5:1; 6:4; 7:6; 8:37; 10:12; 12:1; 13:8; 15:1-2; 16:25.

• This year: Romans.

• Next three years: Galatians & Ephesians; 1 Corinthians; Basic Bible Doctrines.

• The Main Study book has the Bible Reading, and Service & Training requirements (see below).

One Elective Study: 

• 12 lessons, including a verse to memorize and a review page to complete.  Books are in NIV.

• Each new verse is quoted with 5 other most recent verses.

• This year, the elective will be one of: Will of God, A Study in Revelation, We Believe, or Men and Women of God.

Bible Reading and Book Summaries: 

• Old Testament: Exodus, Numbers, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Obadiah, Micah, Haggai.

• New Testament: Mark, Romans, Philippians, Philemon, James, Jude, Revelation.

• Over four years, the entire Bible is read.

• Student must give in his own words the theme, author, date and summary of each book.

Service and Training: 

• Part One.  Bring a visitor to youth group, Sunday School, a church service or a special church youth activity.

• Part Two (a).  Participate in a long-term service project through your church or MLCC.  You must faithfully spend at least three months in an area of service.  Suggestions:

• Be an Awana Leader-in-Training with a group at least 4 years younger.
• Serve as an assistant teacher or worker in Sunday School or Children's Church.
• Participate as a regular member of a youth or adult choir; serve as pianist or organist.
• Assist in leadership of your youth group.
• Work in a puppet ministry.
• Participate in your church services on a regular basis -- providing special music, ushering, greeting, passing out bulletins, etc.

• Part Two (b).  Attend a Christian training seminar.  Suggestions:

• Awana leadership conference.
• Sunday school conference.
• Church youth seminar.
• Missionary-in-Training boot camp or trip.
